The Global Information Exchange (GIE) has been created to collect, maintain and share standard equipment information across multiple industries. The data and documents companies collect from suppliers will be collected and validated once in the GIE then offered back to Industry participants in the format they require, wherever possible to meet an industry sector standard or requirement.
The GIE has been built to create efficiencies for all stakeholders in the design, build and operation of an asset, including facility owners, contractors, suppliers & original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
The duplication of effort in repeatedly collecting standard equipment information, costs millions of dollars, across industries each year in man hours, to both purchasing companies and the supply chain. Equipment procured & used in facilities is not unique to a single industry, by working together, the GIE facilitates the flow of equipment information without boundaries.
The GIE is a cloud-based environment that allows collaboration in a community, that is a group of companies in an industry or geographical location that can benefit from shared access to the information held in the GIE, but can also collect and share industry and regionally specific information which is not required to be shared outside of the community. This is known as a Community Hub. Community Hubs accessing GIE information are encouraged to create their own steering groups to manage and govern their specific community requirements supported by the GIE.
